Um grande problema que veio acompanhado com o Novo Acordo foi o emprego do hífen (ou não) nas palavras com prefixos. Você sabe se o correto é autoavaliação ou auto-avaliação? Autoavaliação: significado

O termo autoavaliação é originado da conjunção entre o prefixo auto, que diz respeito a si próprio, si mesmo, com a palavra avaliação. Ou seja, o vocábulo faz referência ao ato de realizar uma avaliação sobre si próprio. Cabe ressaltar que auto também pode ser a redução da palavra automóvel, que significa o que se locomove por si próprio.

Exemplos do uso de autoavaliação

• Os alunos deverão se autoavaliar ainda hoje à tarde.
• O professor não fez nenhum comentário sobre como fazer uma autoavaliação.
• Preciso parar por um tempo, fazer uma autoavaliação profissional e refletir antes de tomar essa decisão.

Quando incluir o hífen

As regras do hífen (nova ortografia) foram alteradas consideravelmente. Agora, ele é utilizado apenas quando o prefixo termina com a mesma letra que inicia a segunda palavra. Ou, então, quando a segunda palavra começa com “h”.

Com hífen:

• auto-higiene;
• auto-hipnose;
• auto-observação.

Em todas as outras palavras que não seguem as regras acima, não se utiliza hífen, como em:

• autoavaliação;
• autoajuda;
• autoimagem.

Ainda existem os casos em que o prefixo termina em vogal e a outra palavra se inicia com r ou s, e a consoante deve ser duplicada:

• autorretrato;
• autossuficiente;
• autorreflexão.
