Cognitivo: significado

A cognição é uma função psicológica ligada ao aprendizado e desenvolvimento intelectual e emocional. Assim, termos como capacidade cognitiva ou desenvolvimento cognitivo indicam a habilidade de adquirir conhecimentos e desenvolver emoções, por meio do raciocínio, percepção, linguagem, memória, entre outros.

A atividade cognitiva é um dos principais conceitos da teoria do conhecimento. Podemos dizer que a cognição é a capacidade do cérebro perceber, raciocinar e armazenar as informações captadas pelos sentidos.

Sinônimos de cognitivo

O conceito de cognição também pode ser entendido como atividade mental ou intelectual. Assim, existem termos que podem ser usados como sinônimos:

intelectual (desenvolvimento ou capacidade intelectual);
mental;
capacidade de compreensão;
habilidade para absorção de conhecimento;
aprendizado;
percepção ou entendimento.

Teoria cognitiva comportamental

A teoria cognitiva comportamental é como essa percepção influencia suas emoções. É um recurso muito usado na terapia, ajudando o indivíduo a lidar com situações que causam desconforto, medo, incômodo ou outras sensações.

Teoria cognitiva de Piaget

O psicólogo suíço Jean Piaget acreditava ser possível desenvolver a inteligência por meio de exercícios que estimulam as habilidades. Ele criou a teoria cognitiva, definindo quatro fases de aprendizagem, que se tornaram essenciais na educação:

estágio sensório-motor, do nascimento até os dois anos de vida — a criança começa a perceber o mundo ao seu redor e vai conquistando habilidades, como a fala e o equilíbrio;
estágio pré-operacional, na segunda infância, entre dois e sete anos — a criança usa o pensamento intuitivo, não a lógica;
estágio operatório-concreto, dos oito anos até 11 ou 12 anos — é a etapa da conquista de autonomia e capacidade de reflexão;
estágio operatório-formal, entre 12 e 16 anos — o raciocínio lógico é desenvolvido.
